Location
The cabin is on the north end of the island at the south end of Young Lake at an elevation of 320ft (97.5 m).
Access
Float plane. It is about a 20-minute flight from Juneau. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land). The lake is normally ice free from mid-May through November.

Special Features
This is 1 of 2 cabins on the lake (the other is the North Young Lake cabin). You are in brown bear country. Both brown bear and deer can be seen in the area. The Admiralty Cove-Young Lake trail is a 41/2 mile trail that departs from the North Young Lake cabin and ends at the Admiralty Cove cabin. It is a relatively flat trail and follows the creek at each end of the trail. The round trip hike can be fairly strenuous when conditions are very wet. The lake is on a flight path and has substantial overhead plane traffic.
