Linda and Angel, a mother-daughter team, have made it their mission to bring people together and support everything local. It’s why they opened Wild Starr Creations, an art studio and gift shop, in 2023. Now that mission has expanded into the Wild Starr Coffee House — a unique spot for local coffees, teas, and small bites.
Local Coffee & Tea
You’ll find all of the delicious beverages you’d expect from a top-tier coffee shop, like lattes and cappuccinos, but here you can add an Alaskan twist: a local syrup. Pick a delicious signature latte like the “Alaskan", which features cardamom and vanilla from Anchorage-based Full Moon Syrup, or the “Tundra,” with local birch syrup. Or opt for a refreshing “Glacier Lemonade” or a matcha smoothie.
And because supporting local businesses is part of their mission, all of the coffees come from Anchorage roaster Kaladi Brothers Coffee, while their teas come from Sipping Streams Tea Company in Fairbanks.
Sweet Treats & A Charcuterie Bar
Hungry? You’re in luck. Select from the charcuterie bar, where you can build your own box. Choose a combination of meat, cheese, nuts or fruit, honey sticks, and a dip or sauce. Many of these savory snacks are locally sourced as well: cheeses from local Fromagio’s Artisan Cheese, jellies from Hungry Bear Jellies, and veggie and garlic dip from We Are Dip Alaska. Wild Starr also has sweets, like cookies and brownies, or a full sweet charcuterie box that includes a dessert cheese, fruit local jam, honey, caramels and cookies.
In the morning they have a Breakfast Box which includes Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, local syrups and house whipped cream. Or select the Bread Box, with locally made loaves, jams and dips.
Then take a seat at one of the tables or at the bar, gaze out the window onto Downtown Anchorage’s Town Square Park, and watch local life go by as you enjoy your beverage and snack.
And if you try something you really like, chances are you can buy it here, too. Pick up the locally made syrups, jellies, and teas right off the shelf. Or, if the item isn’t in stock, grab a business card from the maker and contact them to have it shipped. Either way, you’ll be helping to fulfill Wild Starr’s mission of supporting Alaskan businesses!
