Reinvented from a boat repair garage, the taphouse—which opened in 2020—kept the industrial feel of its former chapter on the outside and added a rustic, maritime coziness on the inside. The focus is on great food and craft brews, and you’ll find 16 taps featuring favorite beers, ciders, and seltzers from breweries in Seward and across Alaska. There’s also a selection of wines, champagnes, wine-spirit cocktails, and delicious non-alcoholic mocktails.
Maritime Charm
Inside the restaurant you’ll find colorful wood-planked walls with nautical accents, mermaid statues, and bronze ship antiques. Dine downstairs—a casual space serving small plates, salads, burgers, flatbreads, and Alaska seafood. Or head upstairs to the Kraken Lounge–a slightly more upscale space with a wooden boat-shaped bar that is being “pulled to the depths” by huge kraken tentacles. The second floor looks out on the harbor with stunning mountain and bay views . Here you can dine on savory dishes like miso black cod with purple rice, a house made crab dip, curry mussels, or a tasty Halibut sandwich.
Outdoor Seating
A 16-foot glass garage door leads to a large outdoor patio with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs, perfect for relaxing with a beer in the afternoon sun. Here, you’ll find yourself seated beside a large rocky island with “shipwrecked” pieces of old merchant vessels, salvaged from the shipyard across the bay.
