If you want to visit a classic fisherman’s bar, check out the little blue building on the corner, right near the docks. Over coffee at 10 a.m. or a beer at 5, get your fill of local gossip while enjoying the friendly vibe of the 50s-era Sourdough Bar.
You can while away an entire afternoon here just checking out the photo collection on the wall, devoted entirely to boats that have gone aground in this rocky, turbulent archipelago we call home. You would think from looking at the hundreds of wrecked boats that there would be none left in Alaska!
If you want to have a drink somewhere, it might as well be where the fisherman drink. Check out the photos, play a game of pool, plug your quarters into the juke box and stay awhile in authentic Alaska. On your way out, don’t miss the accompanying package store if you want to take a bottle of wine with you.
