Enjoy dog sledding, snowmobiling, and aurora viewing at Snowhook Adventures’ winter lodge

Enjoy dog sledding, snowmobiling, and aurora viewing at Snowhook Adventures’ winter lodge

From mid-November to mid-April, this tour lets you experience all of Alaska’s iconic wintertime activities.

You’ll begin by setting off on a magical, 2-hour dog sled ride through snow-covered woods, over hills, and across frozen lakes. Grab some lunch and hop on a different kind of sled—a snowmobile—for a thrilling, 26-mile ride up the mountain to the lodge. After settling into your cabin, sit down for a delicious meal with good friends and great company, followed by a discussion of the night sky and northern lights. Then go look for the aurora: The greens, whites and reds flow over the lodge on most winter evenings, making for a spectacular show. You can also opt for other activities, like snowshoeing or a midnight snowmobile ride.

In the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading back down the mountain by snowmobile. This tour includes meals, activities, and winter outerwear—including snowsuits, boots, helmets, and goggles—to help keep you comfortable on the trail. All you need to bring is an overnight bag and your sense of adventure.

Winter 2-Night Aurora, Dog Sled, Snowmobile + Ice Fishing Combo

This 2-day/3-night excursion includes all the unforgettable experiences of our one night package plus an extra night of northern lights viewing. You can also take part in another iconic winter experiences: ice fishing. Or opt for a flightseeing excursion or day trip to the Matanuska Glacier for an additional charge.

As with the Winter Overnight Aurora tour, you’ll get meals, activities, and the winter outerwear you need to stay comfortable.

Summer Overnight Midnight Sun ATV + Morning Dog Sled Combo

Summer in Alaska is all about the midnight sun and getting into the backcountry. Based out of Snowhook Lodge on Hatcher Pass, this tour includes both—thanks to an exciting 3-hour evening ATV ride, as well as overnight lodging and a sunrise summer dogsled tour. You’ll get dinner, breakfast, and all the winter gear you need, plus plenty of time to meet and interact with Iditarod sled dogs.

Fall Overnight Aurora, Dog Sled and ATV Adventure

Be among the first of the season to see the northern lights and discover the beauty of fall in Alaska. This limited-availability tour in September and October includes a dog sled tour in the crisp autumn air through golden-hued woods. After settling into your cabin enjoy dinner and a discussion of the northern lights. Then, as the sun sets, hop in a UTV for a thrilling ride up the trail into the rugged Talkeetna Mountains to get a spectacular vantage point and gaze out at stars as you look for lights to start dancing in the sky. This tour includes meals, activities, and seasonal outerwear.
