Mixing upscale modern and Alaskan rustic, Salmon Falls Resort overlooks the water 15 minutes outside Ketchikan in the foothills of the Tongass National Forest. Its secluded spot at the end of the Tongass Highway makes for a quiet, serene getaway. And while the resort is famous for its world-class fishing, it’s a place that everyone can enjoy.
Modern Rooms with Luxurious Touches
Modern rooms feature a clean design and luxurious touches like premium linens and bath amenities. Rooms in the lower lodge, which all look out on the water, come with two or three double beds. Upper lodge rooms and suites have two queen beds or a king.
Fine Dining at Timbers Restaurant
You’ll also find gorgeous water views at the resort’s Timbers Restaurant, which serves meals so delicious even the locals come here to dine. A full breakfast buffet includes options like biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit, and bagels. Dine in for lunch or order a gourmet lunch box to take out on adventures. Dinners feature locally caught salmon, halibut, and shrimp, along with pork chops, burgers, salads, and more. Local musicians come to play Tuesday through Sunday, either inside in the lounge or out on the big outdoor deck.
Choose Your Adventure
Properly fueled up, you’ll be ready for the resort’s wealth of adventures. As Ketchikan is the salmon fishing capital of the world, it’s no surprise that this is the resort’s main focus. Head out in small, often private groups into the untouched bays and coves. Fish for king salmon from mid-June to mid-July, then silvers from the end of July through September. Salmon Falls can fillet, vacuum pack, freeze and box your fish so you can fly home with it! It’s the quintessential souvenir of Alaska. Self-guided fishing is available here as well— you can take a skiff out and explore on your own.
All-Inclusive Packages
You can also choose an all-inclusive package, which adds airport transfers, three meals each day, and a full menu of half and full-day activities. Opt for fully guided fishing tours, kayaking, hikes, e-bikes, Zodiac boat tours, ziplining, or cooking demonstrations with beer or wine pairings. Or upgrade to enjoy adventures like fly-out fishing, seasonal bear viewing, or a sunset shrimping excursion, which includes a happy hour on board.
