It’s actually pretty easy to hook into a bright king salmon or world-class rainbow trout. Regal Air offers some of the most affordable fly-in salmon and trout fishing trips out of Anchorage, so you, family and friends can enjoy world-class fishing in pristine, remote rivers. Plus, because they team up with wilderness lodges and guiding services, they take care of anything from gear to lunch—and they’ll even teach you how to cast.
Fabulous Flightseeing
Most of their trips visit Lake Creek, a crystal clear river only 35-45 minutes from Anchorage via float plane. You’ll get the ultimate Alaska flying experience, taking off and landing in a float plane, and flying over big, braided glacier river valleys and endless forests.
You’ll fly over the Susitna Valley looking down on big braided rivers, boreal forest and marshlands. And on clear days, Mt. McKinley and the Alaska Range are visible in the distance. Because the flight is relatively quick, you’ll have more time for fishing and spend less to cover fuel costs ($600, compared to other trips’ $800-$1,200)!
First Gear, then Fish
After landing at a lodge, you’ll get hooked up with your guide, gear and jetboat. Then, you’ll spend the day exploring the waters in search of fish. Troll from the boat, cast from the bank or fish the swirling confluence of Lake Creek and the Yetna River. In late May you’ll be in pursuit of kings, then in early July sockeye and in late July silvers show up and run all the way through August. In September, fishing for salmon drops off, but trout (rainbow and dolly varden) picks up.
For Weekend Warriors and Serious Anglers
It’s great for families, husbands and wives, or groups of friends with an open day on their itinerary in Anchorage. The guides are flexible, working easily with both hardcore fishermen or families just looking for fun.
Plus, they take care of everything. If you’re a serious fishermen with all of your own gear, Regal Air can drop you off for unguided trips in the Alaska backcountry. Or, you can just show up in tennis shoes, with no gear, and you can be ready to go fast. Regal Air has fish boxes, freezers, fish processors, and they can get it to you the day you leave town.
