Relax on a half- or full-day packrafting trip with Alaska Helicopter Tours

The sport of packrafting is a great way to enjoy rafting and explore the gorgeous Alaskan wilderness. Do it with Alaska Helicopter Tours out of Palmer and you’ll also experience a scenic helicopter ride and have your choice of half- or full-day trips. No experience necessary!

Flight over the Knik Glacier

Lift off in a chopper and enjoy a 15-minute flight that takes you over the gorgeous Knik River Valley and Knik Glacier. You’ll set down in a remote location at the base of mountains, near the confluence of 3 different glaciers.

Paddle Your Own Packraft

There you’ll gear up with packraft, paddle, dry suit, and life jacket. You’ll learn how to inflate your personal pack raft; then, led by your expert guide, you’ll paddle down a remote river situated between those 3 glaciers. The float will be a calm one, affording you the opportunity to search for wildlife and take in views of the stunning snow-capped mountains that rise up around you.

Half-day tours are 4 hours; a full-day excursion of 6 to 8 hours includes lunch and also gives you the chance to float on stunning Lake George, at the base of Colony Glacier, before your scenic helicopter ride back.
