Tour Options
Arctic Circle Fly / Drive Adventure
This is the most popular one-day tour, offering visitors a chance to experience Alaska's Arctic both by air and by guided ground tour. A one-hour flight north of Fairbanks provides guests an aerial view of the vast wilderness below, landing in the town of Coldfoot, nestled in the Brooks Mountain Range. The rest of the day is spent with a guide who shares the story of the Arctic as you work your way south back into Fairbanks. Explore up close the amazing Arctic tundra and feel the veins of ice just beneath the surface. Experience the mighty Yukon River. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland's most famous waterway and learn of the river's storied past. Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post in the rural community of Joy, Alaska.
Arctic Circle Drive Adventure
For guests who prefer to keep both feet on the ground, the Arctic Circle Drive Adventure provides a full-day, round-trip guided ground journey from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle. Guests spend the day with an informative guide exploring the wonders of the Alaskan Arctic.
Arctic Circle Air Adventure
For visitors who have a limited time, the Arctic Circle Air Adventure is a quick, 5-hour hit of the Arctic. Guests fly one hour north from Fairbanks to Coldfoot, nestled in the Brooks Mountain Range. Once on the ground a guide meets the guests and shares with them the golden history of the Koyukuk Gold region and what life is like year-round in this northern region.
Arctic Circle Fly Drive Adventure - Northbound
You can stay overnight in Coldfoot, Alaska on an Arctic Circle Brooks Range Adventure. This two-day experience provides free time for visitors to explore the Brooks Mountain Range on their own, or purchase a scenic float on the Middle Fork Koyukuk River or a flight of the Gates of the Arctic National Park. Travel to Coldfoot on a guided ground tour north from Fairbanks including the highlights along the Dalton Highway. You'll return the next day by air on a one-hour flight from Coldfoot!
Arctic Ocean Adventure
Get the ultimate Arctic experience. Discover the entire region on a 3-day Arctic Ocean Adventure. Two full days are spent with a knowledgeable guide sharing the story of Alaska's Arctic between Fairbanks and the Arctic Ocean along the Dalton Highway. A third day is spent traveling out to the Arctic Ocean and flying between Prudhoe Bay and Fairbanks.
Gates of the Arctic Air Adventure
Fly north of Fairbanks, and land 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle at the community of Coldfoot in the Brooks Mountain Range. Today, this is the gateway to the Gates of the Arctic National Park. You'll get a brief orientation before continuing your journey by air inside Gates of the Arctic National Park before returning to Fairbanks. The trip departs daily at 7 pm, returning between 11:30 pm and midnight. This quick trip is perfect for National Park enthusiasts looking to visit all 8 of Alaska's National Parks but who are short on time.
No experience necessary. No minimum age requirement, but small children may get restless on the longer tours.
What to Bring
- Dress for comfort. Wear comfortable, walking-type shoes that can get a bit soiled in the event of rain, dress in layers, and bring a warm, medium-weight jacket.
- During spring (mid-May to mid-June) and fall (mid-August to early September), bring a warm cap and gloves or mittens.
