For about $10 you can take in a show at the Gold Coast Cinema, Nome’s first-run movie theatre on Front Street. Gold Coast is the only local choice for going out to see a movie, and does an admirable job of bringing in popular titles as well as independently made films. These often feature local themes, such as living in the Arctic or events like the Iditarod.
There’s stadium seating typical of a modern theatre (just a lot smaller). One unusual aspect of the Gold Coast Cinema is that it’s co-located with a Subway sandwich shop, so your concession run can include big boxes of candy, fresh movie theatre popcorn, and a sandwich made to order.
Showtimes are on Friday-Sun in the evening and late evening, and Sat-Sun matinees. Call for details.
