Discover some of Alaska’s best fishing by spending a week at the remote, all-inclusive fishing lodge No See Um, a 30-minute flight from the town of King Salmon. Set among pristine wilderness and overlooking the winding, Kvichak River, the intimate lodge serves up unforgettable getaways for anglers of all levels that include daily fly-out fishing expeditions with professional guides and pilots, gourmet meals, and a welcoming, amenity-filled lodge.
The Experience
You’ll depart Anchorage on a charted flight and fly southwest over a gorgeous landscape to the village of King Salmon. From there our float planes will pick you up and take you out to the lodge, where you’ll spend the next week. Your 6-day/7-night stay affords you the time to explore and truly enjoy the world-class angling in Alaska’s shimmering waters.
Each day, you’ll fly out to a remote location—including Katmai National Park, Brooks Camp, or the exclusive Lower American Creek—for an action-packed, 10-hour day of fly- fishing for rainbow trout. Experienced guides will customize each day’s trip, taking into account the interests and experience level of the guests as well as the best conditions for the day. And with the plane at the ready, you’ll be super-flexible if you need to relocate due to weather or where the fish are biting.
The Lodge
You’ll return each evening to this cozy, riverfront lodge that has a long history of making anglers feel right at home. With a 12-guest maximum, you’ll get to know the owners and guides as well as your fellow travelers over the course of the week.
Stay in one of the 4 cozy cabins, each of which comes with a deck that’s perfect for relaxing after a long day, or reserve one of the 4 comfortable rooms in the main lodge. That’s where you’ll find the bar; and since drinks are included, you can order what you like, whenever you like it. Just outside is a gazebo with a firepit, a hot tub overlooking the water, and a sauna down by the river.
Meals are also included in your stay—and you’ll eat well! Made-to-order breakfasts may include sourdough pancakes, eggs and bacon, avocado toast, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. Lunches are packed to go out with you; while fishing, you may enjoy options like club sandwiches on housemade bread, salads, and homemade soups. You may even have a shore lunch of freshly caught fish that your guide will cook up.
Wind down each day back at the lodge, where you’ll enjoy appetizers and cocktails before sitting down to a gourmet dinner. Delicious meals feature dishes like Alaskan king crab, prime rib, salmon, pasta, and more, and you can pair your dinner with a fine wine or local beer. Finish off the experience with freshly made desserts like cheesecake or tiramisu.
About NoSeeUm Lodge
You’ll also get a dose of Alaskan history at the No See Um Lodge, which has become an Alaskan icon since its opening in 1975. Back then, the father of the current owner was teaching in a local village when he fell in love with this property and bought it from a homesteader. The lodge grew slowly to become what it is today, but has never lost sight of its roots. The building in the middle of the lodge, which is now the kitchen, was the original homestead cabin!
