Known to locals as the Divide Ski Area, this trail was built by dedicated community volunteers from the Seward Nordic Ski Club. The trail was carved out for the sole purpose of creating an ideal cross country ski environment for the local community and the high school ski team. With a range of trails from easy to difficult, the Mile 12 Divide Ski Area is great for all ages in both summer and winter.
The trails are often used in the summer for hiking, blueberry picking and as a point to get onto the Iditarod Trail. There's plenty of off-highway parking at the trailhead where you'll also find an information kiosk for any questions you might have.
