Take an easy hike on a well-maintained trail from the Wonder Lake Campground to the McKinley River. This is part of the historic route that climbers used to access Denali (Mt. McKinley). Even though this approach has fallen out of favor for today's climbers, it's easy to imagine what it must have been like as you walk in the shadow of the great one. Look for wildlife along the way and especially when you get close to the river. Because it’s near the water, mosquitos are prevalent. A head net is recommended.
