Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: A little over 4 miles
It’s less than ¼ mile from the trailhead to the lake, and the trail is generally pretty flat (though when you get close to the lake, the trail drops steeply and it isn’t in the best shape). The trail meanders through mature forest and provides connectors to rest of the system without going through the farm fields. Very few hikers use this trailhead (most opt for the Matanuska Lakes Trailhead), but it’s a good walk. It’s also very popular for anglers. Be prepared for a rutted gravel access road, which may not be plowed in winter.
