This easy, round trip hike begins at the very end of Archangel Road (3.5 miles) in Hatcher Pass. Archangel Road is very rough and high clearance vehicles are recommended. The trail can be found by following the mining road beyond the gate and then taking the first right hand hairpin turn off the main road to a smaller trail. You will see the trail as it angles up the Valley about a 100 yards above the main road. Total elevation gain is about 1,100 ft.
Beautiful ponds, waterfalls, and mountain scenery make this a worthwhile hike. Many birds, Arctic Ground Squirrels and even a few ducks can be sighted enroute. The trail ends at Lane Hut at the end of the Valley. Extra exploring opportunities are everywhere!
