Here is the former site of the Jack Wade Dredge. This was a popular attraction and photo subject for highway travelers for many years. The dredge was dismantled and scraped by the BLM in 2007. BLM officials said that the deteriorating condition of the old dredge was a safety hazard. Today, there is an interpretive display with pieces of the dredge behind the post office in Chicken. The Jack Wade dredge was freighted up the Fortymile River from Dawson City, YT, in the winter of 1906-07. It was one of the first bucket line dredges in the Fortymile mining district and operated from 1935 to 1941 at this location.
