Tour Options

Knik Glacier

Enjoy a bird’s-eye glacier view and a glacier landing on this tour that includes 80 minutes of flight time. You’ll chopper through the Eklutna Valley and over the Eklutna Glacier, then fly over Whiteout and Lake George glaciers. Set down on either Knik Glacier or Colony Glacier, attach crampons, and spend 30 minutes walking around on the ice, checking out cool formations and glacial pools. Feeling brave? Bring a towel and you can even take a polar plunge!

Hatcher Pass

This quick, 30-minute flight gives you a taste for what heli-flightseeing is all about. It’s the perfect introduction for anyone on a tight timeline or anyone who hasn’t been in a helicopter before. You’ll fly over Willow Creek, go over Independence Mine, and then explore Hatcher Pass from the air.

Eklutna

Enjoy 40–45 minutes in the air on this mid-range expedition. Head into the Eklutna Valley and circle over the Eklutna Glacier, looking down on the icy formation. At the glacier’s toe is a wildlife-rich canyon where you can often see mountain goats and sometimes even a bear.

Prince William Sound

Lasting around 2.5 hours, this trip gives you a little of everything. Fly out over the Eklutna and Knik glaciers, then go up over the top of the mountains and out into Prince William Sound, where you can see Harriman Fjord and tidewater glaciers that stretch out into the ocean. You may be able to spot otter, seals, and perhaps even whales if you’re lucky! On your way back you’ll set down for a 30-minute glacier landing on Knik or Colony glacier, where you can walk on the ice and explore blue glacier pools.

Talkeetna Heli Hike

Take a helicopter up into the Talkeetna Mountains for an amazing hike, done in partnership with local hiking company, Revel Treks. This summertime-only tour includes a 4- or 7-hour hike. The helicopter—which drops you off and picks you up—lets you to get up on the ridges above the tree line for spectacular views.

Alaska State Fair

Take your state fair experience to the next level by adding a quick helicopter ride! Available during the 2 weeks of the fair in late August and early September, this quick but memorable tour is 16-18 minutes long. You’ll take off right from the fairgrounds and fly up and around Pioneer Peak.

About Heli Alaska, Inc.

Heli Alaska’s co-owners, Dusty, Justin, and Rob are all passionate Alaskans. Dusty and Justin are originally from the Wasilla area, while Rob—who has been flying helicopters from the beginning—moved here 11 years ago, specifically because the flying is so amazing. Dusty is the other pilot; each has been flying for around 18 years and logged more than 7,000 hours. All of them bring an intimate knowledge and unique perspective of the area and what makes this landscape special.
