Girdwood Summer Sled Dog Adventure
Experience the thrill of Alaskan sled dog racing—in summertime!—on this unique tour from Girdwood with a real Iditarod musher and their dogs.
Gold Rush History & Mountain Views
This amazing adventure begins when you’re picked up at the Hotel Alyeska in a six-wheel, open-air Pinzgauer—a Cold War-era military vehicle made for the Swiss. You’ll head off into the mountainous area above Girdwood on your way to the dog kennel, with your driver/guide offering up the fascinating history of gold mining in the area.
Kennel Tour & Cart Ride
At the kennel, you’ll meet the Iditarod musher and sled dogs, and get a tour of the kennel. Once the dogs are harnessed up to the wheeled cart, you’ll take off for an unforgettable journey along spectacular mountain trails. Take in the glaciated peaks that climb around you as the excited dogs pull your cart and you feel the wind in your hair.
After your ride, you’ll hear first-hand about what it’s really like to compete in the world’s most famous sled dog race and cuddle the kennel’s puppies (keep your camera ready!). Then you’ll ride back down to the meeting point in the Pinzgauer, reflecting on the amazing experience you’ve just had!
