Location
The cabin is on the west side of Admiralty Island on the east end of Lake Florence at an elevation of 135ft (41 m).
Access
Access is by float plane. It is about a 30-minute flight from Juneau. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land). The lake is normally ice free from early May through November.
Terrain
The cabin sits back 150' (46 m) from a nice beach. Much of the surrounding area is private land and has been clearcut. Clearcuts and roads are visible from the cabin.
Special Features
You are in brown bear country. Both brown bear and deer can be seen in the area. Deer hunting is a popular fall activity. A 1-mile (1.6 km) trail to saltwater begins on the north side of the outlet stream at the west end of the lake. You are surrounded by Shee Atika Corporation lands and a permit is necessary to hike from the cabin.
