Find yourself fully immersed in the world of dog mushing a staple of any authentic Alaskan experience when you visit the award-winning DogGoneIt Tours. Owners Mike and Caitlin Santos have called Alaska home for more than 20 years: Mike as a lifelong professional dog musher and an Iditarod veteran, and Caitlin as a professional educator. Together, they love sharing their passion for sled dogs, sled dog sports, and Alaska!

Guided Tour from Denali to Cantwell

The three-hour experience begins when Caitlin drives you from your hotel lobby to the dog kennel. As you travel alongside the gorgeous Nenana River, she’ll regale you with her vast knowledge of the area, as well as personal stories of living in Alaska.

Meet the Pups

At the kennel, you’ll melt when Mike greets you with armfuls of adorable Alaskan Husky puppies! You’ll have plenty of time to snuggle and take pictures with these newest members of the pack. Once your puppy fix has been sated, you’ll venture out to meet the big dogs.

Then experience the thrill of watching a team of dogs take off on a training run. A multimedia and live presentation offers a deep dive into the lives of these incredible athletes, culminating with the team thundering back into the kennel.

Once you’re an expert on all things Alaskan Husky, you’ll head into the theater, where Caitlin will present photos and videos covering the intensive process of preparing for—and racing in—the world’s longest sled dog race: the Iditarod! Spanning more than 1,000 miles, the race is a true testament to the character, will, and spirit that embodies what it means to be an Alaskan.

You then have ample time to ask questions, peruse the gift shop, and have one more chance to visit with the puppies before you head out on your next adventure.

Tour Sizing and Details

Tour groups range from 20–65 people, making for an enjoyable, personal experience for every guest. Custom tour times are also available for groups of 20 people or more; it’s the perfect excursion for family reunions or corporate retreats.
