This September itinerary is a perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty, featuring Alaska's Arctic region, Denali, and Prince William Sound. Begin with a guided exploration of the Arctic tundra, where you'll search for wildlife, witness stunning fall foliage, and chase the aurora borealis over several nights. Travel south through the Brooks Range, Yukon River, and Fairbanks before visiting Denali National Park and Anchorage. End with a luxurious five-day small ship cruise through Prince William Sound, home to abundant tidewater glaciers, kayaking, hiking, and unparalleled wildlife viewing.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Deadhorse


Begin your adventure by flying to Deadhorse in the Prudhoe Bay region of Alaska (on own) via an Alaska Airlines flight of your choice (morning or afternoon). Overnight at the Aurora Inn (included).

Day 2

Travel the Dalton Highway from Deadhorse to Wiseman


With your group, you’ll begin the drive south on the 414-mi Haul Road (The Dalton Highway). Be on the lookout for muskox, moose, bear and the beautiful arctic autumn colors. Arrive to Wiseman, north of the Arctic Circle, and overnight at the Arctic Getaway B&B. Tonight will be the first night you start to look for the aurora borealis. Meals included

Day 3

Explore Brooks Range by Van


Over the next three days you’ll explore the south side of the Brooks Range looking for wildlife and hiking in the Arctic tundra. Each night after dark, you’ll continue to be on the lookout for the northern lights. Meals are included.

Day 4

Continue Exploring Brooks Range by Van with Your Group

Day 5

Spend Another Exploring Brooks Range by Van

Day 6

Drive Southbound to Anchorage in Van with Your Group


Continue southbound and cross over the Yukon River as your pass through Fairbanks on your way to Denali National Park. Visit the Denali Park Visitors Center. Continue the drive south to overnight in Anchorage. Dinner on own.

Day 7

Drive from Anchorage to Whittier


After breakfast, plan to meet your driver by 10am for transportation southbound with a scenic drive along Turnagain Arm (bordering Chugach State Park) to the port town of Whittier. Enjoy a welcome lunch reception and begin your exploration of Prince William Sound and the Nellie Juan-College Fjord Wilderness Study Area. Includes hiking, kayaking, wildlife viewing, glaciers, great food, and a complimentary bar. Shared bath.

Day 8

Cruising Prince William Sound

Day 9

Overnight in Anchorage


Return to Whittier and transfer to Anchorage. Overnight in downtown. Dinner is on your own, but your guides will be able to make great recommendations on where to enjoy your final dinner in Alaska.

Day 12

Depart Alaska


Following a continental breakfast, check out of your accommodations in the morning.
