Where this river meets the Kaskawulsh River is the beginning of the Alsek. To get to it you must start on the Dezadeash River by putting in either where the Haines Highway crosses the Dezadeash just outside of Haines Junction, or at the end of a washed out gravel road to Serpentine Creek.
