Just 20 minutes away from Denali National Park, the Denali Dome Home is your perfect year-round base for adventures in the park. Owners Ann and Terry Miller have been running this B&B for 23 of the 30 years that they’ve lived in the area, which makes them experienced hosts and knowledgeable trip planners. They’ve done numerous area hikes, eaten at many of the restaurants, and taken most of the tours. Just four years ago they expanded their business and now offer rental cars for available to area visitors.
Their unique, 7,200-square-foot geodesic dome home—with 9 rooms and 8.5 baths—is the only 3-Diamond AAA B&B around. Private baths, an extensive library, several common areas, a large deck, trails, and gardens make for a relaxing base. The rooms are large, and several feature individual Jacuzzi tubs, heated tile floors, or a dry sauna.
The Millers are gracious hosts who will greet you personally, help with luggage, and suggest local outings. Adventurous world travelers themselves, they know how to please guests—from ice-free water for Germans to soy sauce for Japanese travelers.
Every morning, Terry cooks up a full breakfast, with items like sausage, Canadian bacon, fresh-cut fruits, scratch-made biscuits and gravy, muffins, French toast, and eggs to order. At the same time, he entertains the guests with stories about hunting, hiking, and Alaskan winter living.
Then head off for a big day. You’ll find Steiner binoculars, sunscreen, bug spray, and coolers for use—items you'll need to make adventures easy. And you won’t have to go far. Hiking trails in Healy are nearby, and the famous park is just down the road.
