Drive one mile past the golf course club house and look for a dirt road leading off to the left just before you enter a canyon. Leave your car here. Hike along the road a short distance to the first fork and turn right. Follow the obvious trail up through the alders and grassy, rolling hills until you come to two, small scenic lakes nestled into the hills. This is a short hike on a brushy trail that offers a very rewarding destination, beautiful views and good birding along the way. Cross Fox Lakes are an excellent destination for a family outing, picnic, or swim on a hot summer day. You can continue past the lakes and explore the terrain farther up the valley. In winter, the lakes are a great place for ice skating.
