The quiet of Alaska envelops you as you drift down a glacier-fed river on the Kenai Peninsula, angling for Alaska’s most iconic fish: salmon (king, sockeye, silver) and trout. Take a half, three-quarters, or full day for this unique experience; it makes for the perfect day trip from Anchorage, or an ideal add-on to any itinerary in southcentral Alaska.
Every Trip is Custom
Led by expert guides, you’ll fish with all top-quality gear provided and can even ship your catch home with you as a souvenir. Never fished before? No problem. Cooper Landing Fishing Guide, LLC caters to everyone from beginners to experienced pros. Owner David Lisi works with elite guides and will handpick the one that will be the best fit for your group.
Your destination is the gorgeous, fish-filled Kasilof and Kenai rivers, where you may be spin fishing, bait fishing, or even fly fishing. You’ll be close to the road system, so getting there is a breeze.
When to Fish?
The season starts up in April, with early season trout fishing trips. The salmon start arriving in May and really pick up the pace starting in mid-June. You’ll head wherever the fish are biting best.
Drift, or Fish from Shore
Fish from the boat, the shore, or the river: Either way, they provide all the high-quality gear you need: comfortable Simms waders and boots, as well as rods, tackles, and flies.
You’ll be fishing from 20-foot drift boats that can seat up to 4 or a power boat for faster-moving parts of the river. While the trout are catch and release, you can keep a limited number of salmon. Your guides will do the initial fileting and cleaning, and can recommend the best way to get your catch home — the ultimate Alaskan souvenir!
