This panel is an abstraction of various native art forms as interpreted by Nerone. It depicts a caribou migration through Denali. The geometric patterns on the walls of the Fifth Avenue entrance are based on a design from an Unangan basket. Giovanni Nerone Cecarelli is the artist. Nerone was born in Pisa, Italy, and his studio is in Turin Italy. He specializes in work for architects and engineers. he is known for his work in the European Parliament building in Luxembourg and the Cultural Center in Paris. Nerone executed the wall panels from designs by native artists. The panels are fabricated through a combined process of acid etching and oil stains to achieve the relief of various shades of different parts of each design. The works were done in Turpin, Italy using Italian marble, and then shipped to Anchorage.
