John Jay Hoover, B. Cordova 1919: Aleut. A sculptor and carver deeply influenced by his Native heritage, extensive research and spiritual beliefs, Hoover had become known for masklike triptych panels that unfold to show hidden relationships between humans, animals and the world of spirits.
