Beach Lake

Beach Lake is a local gem located in the Eagle River/Chugiak area, about 20 miles north of Anchorage—the perfect place to enjoy a quiet, uncrowded view of the Chugach Mountains. Since there’s no large lakefront beach or recreation area, people mainly come for paddling and fishing (there is a boat launch). Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding with a rental (picked up or delivered) from AK Paddlesports. You can also angle for stocked fish from spring through fall, including rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, and Chinook salmon.

Alaskan wildlife frequent this area, so you may see eagles, loons, moose, bears, foxes, coyotes, or even porcupines. There’s a short, semi-maintained walking trail around the west side of the lake that passes the Beach Lake Lodge; rent a room or cabin through Eagle River Parks and Recreation.
