Watch boats come in and out of the harbor as you choose between New Zealand rack of lamb, seared ahi tuna, or a perfectly marbled ribeye steak.
The proprietors at Bar Harbor are passionate about fine dining. You’ll likely be served by Scotty, a retired construction worker turned foodie who can give you the low down on the entire the menu – where the fish and meat came from, which Alaskan specialties are in season, or what the locals recommend for dessert (hint: reserve a bread pudding with rum sauce as soon as you sit down!). He can also help you select the right bottle from a well-thought out quality wine list.
Scotty’s daughter Cammy, and her husband, Martin, are integral to the exceptional Bar Harbor dining experience. Cammy will make you feel right at home in the cozy and inviting atmosphere. Martin – who was trained in France – will not only prepare an amazing meal, but has been known to serve half-plate combos for those diners torn between two different selections.
Bar Harbor Restaurant is the place where locals go if they want a nice dinner, and it’s fairly unknown in tourist circles. It’s also small, so call ahead for reservations. Bar Harbor does not serve lunch and is only open evenings from 5-8, Monday through Saturday.
