Semipalmated Sandpiper

The Semipalmated Sandpiper gets its name from webbing that grows between its toes. You'll find this bird near both fresh and seawater throughout the eastern US and extending across canada and the Arctic Ocean. Extremely efficient flyers, this speckle-backed shorebird has been known to fly nearly 2,500 miles without stopping.
