Pond Lily

This yellow pong lily grows in ponds and slow streams. The plant has thing submerged leaves and large, heart shaped, leathery leaves with long stems floating on the surface. The leaves grow mostly horizontally to gather sunlight. The enormuos 6-10", globe-like flowers are yellow and solitary.
This plant has been used as a source of food by many Native groups. The thick root may be boiled and eaten. The root and seeds may be roasted, ground and used as a grain.
