Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel

This is a small, pure-gray petrel of the North Pacific. This species stores oil in its stomach that is fed to its single chick or, in times of distress, regurgitated on aggressors. The Storm Petrel has a keen sense of smell that helps it locate food while on the high seas and are often the first birds to arrive at a new source of food.
