Common Goldeneye

The Common Goldeneye is boldly patterned black and white duck that leaves the north only when it can't find any more open water. It usually migrates only as far south as absolutely required for finding open water and enough food. Young ducks' eyes are brown and then progress through several stages of blue before settling on yellow as adults.
