Bonaparte's Gull

Alaska species birds bonapartes gull

The Bonaparte's Gull likes to nest in some of the remotest places on earth but then makes a drastic shift to spend its winters near human habitation. Unlike other gulls, this graceful, dark-headed bird regularly nests in trees. They are easier to identify than some other gulls because they have a black head and black wings. While nesting, the Bonaparte's Gull feeds primarilly on insects that it catches while flying.
