The drive from Anchorage to Valdez can take 6-7 hours (or more) depending on the number of stops you make. And, there are many reasons to stop! Your drive begins on the Glenn Highway out of Anchorage. You’ll pass the Matanuska Glacier (view from the road, or get up close on a guided tour) before reaching the town of Glennallen. From there you meet the Richardson Highway. Upon turning, you’re met with gorgeous views of the Wrangell Mountains. You’ll see another roadside glacier, Worthington Glacier, before heading over Thompson Pass. On your descent, enjoy views of the towering Bridal Veil and Horsetail Falls before arriving in the town of Valdez.

You can be in Valdez within 45 minutes on a Ravn Alaska flight from Anchorage. Cruising at about 10,000 – 15,000 feet, you get gorgeous views of Prince William Sound, jagged mountain peaks, glaciers, and glacial streams. Ravn Alaska typically offers two flights daily during the workweek and one flight daily on the weekend.
