Who he is: Seward resident since 1968. Owner of Fish House Charters since 1974.
Age: 45
Don't miss: Do the whole package-boat tours, fishing, and seeing the scenery Seward offers.
Why did you come to Alaska?
My parents came up here. One was a schoolteacher and one was a nurse, and they were looking for adventure.
What's your favorite thing about living in Alaska?
Outdoor recreational opportunities.
What is there about living in Seward that's unlike any other place in Alaska?
Besides the rain? Seward gives us many opportunities: we have the ocean, abundant with seafood, and the beauty of Kenai Fjords National Park. We can fish, both commercial and sports. And in the off-season with all the snow we can snowmobile or ski and check out the backcountry.
What's your favorite season and what do you like to do?
Spring, and our couple weeks of fall. During fall, I'll go hunting, maybe backpacking or horseback riding. As for spring, there is snowmobiling and preparing for the summer.
How would you spend your perfect weekend in Seward?
Taking my boat out with my family and having a cabin rented in Resurrection Bay. Spending the weekend there and fishing for salmon.
Where's your favorite place to have breakfast in Seward? Dinner?
For breakfast, I would have to say the Breeze Inn. For dinner I go to many places: Ray's, Harbor Dinner Club, Terry's Fish and Chips. I have been to them all.
What's one experience or attraction you think visitors should not miss in Seward?
Well, besides book a charter with the Fish House.I guess Exit Glacier is a must-see. Do the whole package-going on the boat tours, fishing, and seeing the scenery Seward offers.
What's one thing about Alaska you think visitors may not know that you would like to share with them?
We are part of the U.S.
If you had to plan a day with just $10-$20 in Seward, what would you do?
The SeaLife Center, Exit Glacier, the museum, the University of Alaska with their marine science labs. Watch a video about Kenai Fjord National Park at the ranger station, or about the '64 earthquake at the library. Walk along the bike trail and beach.
