Alaska Explorer - Tour 944

Anchorage/Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge Day 1 • Fairbanks

Fly into Fairbanks.  Hotel courtesy transportation is provided to the hotel and overnight in Fairbanks, the Heart of Alaska’s Interior.

Anchorage/Valdez Day 2 • Fairbanks
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel. This morning, meet your local Alaskan tour director and learn how the gold rush affected Alaska’s interior on a city sightseeing adventure of Fairbanks with an included visit to the University of Alaska Museum of the North. Cruise on the Chena River aboard a grand sternwheeler that will transfer you back to the time when rivers were used as transportation.  During the cruise, learn about Alaska Native culture on a tour of an Athabaskan Indian village, hear a professional racer discuss dog mushing, and see a bush pilot take off and land. This evening you might enjoy an optional salmon bake dinner at Pioneer Park.  Overnight in Fairbanks.
Denali National Park

Day 3 • Fairbanks/Denali
Following breakfast at the hotel, ride the motorcoach south along the Parks Highway to Denali National Park.  The afternoon is free at Denali Park to experience the many optional attractions in the area including rafting, flightseeing, helicopter tours, hiking, Park Service programs or the Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre.  Overnight Denali.

Valdez/Fairbanks Day 4 • Denali
Breakfast at the hotel.  Travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and sheep.  This tour is approximately six to eight hours and fully narrated, allowing for insight on the flora and fauna of the spectacular region. Includes a snack box meal and hot beverages.  Overnight at Denali.
Fairbanks

Day 5 • Denali/Anchorage
Breakfast at the hotel. Your morning is free for optional activities.  This afternoon board the world famous Alaska Railroad for the day trip to Anchorage.  As you travel along the Susitna River, you may catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. McKinley or black bear along the banks of the Susitna River.  Overnight in Anchorage.

Talkeetna

Day 6 • Anchorage
Breakfast at the hotel.  Enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of Anchorage including a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, an interpretive center featuring native cultures.  The rest of the day is open to explore until your evening farewell banquet. Tonight, feast on an Alaskan style meal as you and your traveling companions discuss your Alaskan adventure.  Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 7 • Anchorage
Your Alaska Explorer Tour comes to an end with a hotel courtesy transfer to the airport.  Or extend this tour with an Inside Passage cruise or some of our unique post tour options.
