Anchorage Day 1 • Anchorage
An Explore Tours representative will meet you with your travel documents and answer any questions that you may have. Pick up your rental car (13-day rental) and overnight in Anchorage.
Anchorage/Talkeetna/Denali Day 2 • Anchorage/Talkeetna
This morning, drive north to the township of Talkeetna (approximately 2.5 hours, 112 miles, 180 km). Enjoy local optional activities such as river jetboat tours, Mt. McKinley flightseeing, and fishing. Overnight in Talkeetna.
Denali National Park

Day 3 • Denali National Park
Continue north to the Denali National Park entrance (approximately 3 hours, 151 miles, 243 km). Begin your Park experience with a visit to the visitors' center, take an optional rafting tour, or stretch your legs on one of the area hiking trails. Overnight near the Denali National Park entrance.

Denali/Fairbanks

Day 4 • Denali/Fairbanks
Begin your day (6-8 hours) exploring Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. During this fully narrated tour you may see bear, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and a variety of other wildlife. Leave Denali for an enjoyable drive to Fairbanks (approximately 3 hours, 125 miles, 201 km). Keep an eye out for wildlife and other photo opportunities along the way. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 5 • Fairbanks
Learn more about Alaska's "Golden Heart City" on the Riverboat Discovery Cruise, rated the top boat tour in North America. Piloted by multi-generation Alaskan captains, you'll experience the Chena and Tanana Rivers, a traditional Indian Village, and more. This afternoon you may want to add an optional visit to Pioneer Park or the University of Alaska Museum of the North. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Fairbanks/Glennallen

Day 6 • Fairbanks/Chitna
Continue your journey from Fairbanks to Chitina (approximately 8 hours, 377 miles, 606 km). Chitina is the gateway to the Wrangell – St. Elias National Park and the communities of Kennicott and McCarthy. Overnight in Chitina.

Glennallen/Kennicott

Day 7 • Chitna/Kennicott
Park your car at the Chitina airstrip and take Wrangell Mountain Air on a scenic flight to the wonderful historic town of Kennicott. Overnight in Kennicott.

Kennicott

Day 8 • Kennicott
Enjoy a free day exploring the towns of Kennicott and McCarthy. You may also wish to participate in an optional day tour. Overnight in Kennicott.

Kennicott/Valdez

Day 9 • Kennicott/Valdez
Depart in the afternoon on a scenic flight back to Chitina. Pick up your rental car and continue your drive to Valdez (approximately 3 hours, 120 miles, 193 km). Along the way you will pass through Thompson Pass in sight of Worthington Glacier and Bridal Veil Falls. Overnight in Valdez.

Valdez/Seward

Day 10 • Valdez/Seward
Drive aboard the ferry and cruise the Alaska Marine Highway on a marine transfer through Prince William Sound to the coastal town of Whittier. In Whittier, drive through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel and continue south on the Seward Highway to the port town of Seward (approximately 2.5 hours, 89 miles, 143 km). Overnight in Seward.

Seward/Homer

Day 11 • Seward
In Seward, take a day cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park. On board keep your eyes open for whales, otters, puffins and abundant marine life. Enjoy a stop on private Fox Island for lunch, rock skipping, and enjoying this peaceful setting. Overnight in Seward.

Homer/Anchorage

Day 12 • Seward/Anchorage
Depart Seward and travel back through the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage (approximately 3 hours, 127 miles, 204 km). As you get closer to Anchorage, look for Beluga whales in Cook Inlet, Dall sheep along the rocky ledges of Turnagain Arm, and migrating birds in Potter Marsh. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 13 • Anchorage
Enjoy a free day exploring Anchorage on your own. You may wish to visit one of the many gift shops, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, or simply relax. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 14 • Anchorage
Return your rental car in Anchorage. End of tour.
