Zoom
up and down 30 miles of glacial
river in under 2 hours with Glacier
Jet Alaska, hanging on as your
jetboat skims the water, zips
around icebergs, and gives you
a thrilling ride. It's a great
way to get a unique view of the
Alaskan backcountry and the towering
peaks of the Chugach Range. But
this is no float trip-it'll make
your heart race.
Step into a 24-foot jetboat,
custom crafted for the glacier-fed,
log-strewn, boulder infested
Twenty Mile River, and hang on
as your boat takes off upstream.
Keep an eye out for all sorts
of wildlife: bald eagles, moose,
bear, and Mt. goats are commonly
viewed on this adventure. With
the powerful engine straining
against the current, you'll reach
remote, glacier-fed Carmen Lake.
Your captain will then cruise
the perimeter of the emerald
green lake pointing out the numerous
hanging glaciers and waterfalls.
With time and conditions permitting,
you may wish to disembark and explore one of the several
snow caves remaining from the winter avalanche season.
Just when you think it's all over, you'll push on to
the even more remote Twenty Mile Glacier, where you'll
motor right up to the glacier's face.
Then
hang on-as you zigzag amongst the icebergs
and thread your way through the boulder
fields downriver, and for the more
adventuresome among you and with a
little encouragement, your captain
may even spin a 360 or two.
While the pace is certainly thrilling,
the ride offers more than just speed:
it's a great way to experience some
of Alaska's wildest backcountry. And,
never let the weather discourage you
or keep you inside, because our boats
feature re-movable tops for those drizzly
days.
