| Why did you come to Alaska? |
| My cousin moved to Girdwood and invited me up here for a vacation. The sheer beauty of this place really had an impact on me. Small town, friendly people and incredible views-I wanted to make Girdwood home. She introduced me to a realtor named Judy. I bought a little investment condo and married her one and a half years later. |

| What's your favorite thing about living in Alaska? |
| How nice the people are. My wife and I own RE/MAX of Alyeska real estate company here in Girdwood. Our customers are so nice and friendly. |
| What is there about living in Girdwood that's unlike any other place in Alaska? |
| Girdwood has around 2,000 people. We are just a little town with a $100-million-dollar Hotel Alyeska and a world-class ski resort. There is a proposed golf course and plans to expand the ski resort into Winner Creek. This town is hopping. There are so many kids and babies here-it has to be the water. |

| What's your favorite season and what do you like to do? |
| Summer is fantastic, but I honestly hate the bugs-can't enjoy the outdoors unless you keep moving. Winter is also fantastic and the cold isn't even that bad in Girdwood. The skiing is exceptional and I've heard the heli-skiing is some of the best in the world. I love spring and fall. Fall is great for hikes. It's cool and the air is crisp. Gosh, Girdwood is great all year. |
| How would you spend your perfect weekend in Girdwood? |
| In the morning after breakfast, the family would take a bike ride on the trail to Bird Point. Eat lunch at our favorite restaurant, Jack Sprat. For dinner, we'd call some friends over and have a barbeque on our back deck. Play a board game, have a few beers, maybe even a shot or two of tequilas. The next day, watch cartoons in bed with the kids, have leftovers for lunch, and play kickball with the kids and drop in on some friends. Get a babysitter and take my wife to the Double Musky restaurant for dinner and a few martinis. |
| What's your favorite local hidden treasure? |
| The Girdwood Mine and Jack Sprat restaurant. The mine is so much fun and they do such a good job. Jack Sprat has such an unusual mix of dishes-all good, especially the spring rolls. |
| What's one experience or attraction you think visitors should not miss in Girdwood? |
| Driving up Crow Creek Road and stopping off at the Girdwood Mine. Then continue to the end of Crow Creek Mine where there is a trailhead. Take a half-hour hike and you won't believe the beauty and views. It's not difficult, but it's a must see experience. |
| What are top myths that tourists/outsiders have about Alaska? |
| That bears are a real threat everywhere you go. That everything is frozen and we live in igloos. They don't realize we experience 22 hours of sunlight in the summer and six hours in the winter. I've met people who thought you needed a passport to fly to Alaska. |
| If you had to plan a day with just $10-$20 in Girdwood, what would you do? |
| I would spend the day at the Girdwood Mine. Then stop for lunch at JJ's Chinese restaurant. Take a hike up past the airport to The Hotel Alyeska and go to the hotel swimming pool, hot tub, and weight room. Buy some French fries at the Alpine Diner and then go to the Ice Cream Shop. |
