Perfect for the independent traveler
on a budget, the experienced driver-guides
of Alaska Trails will
take you just about anywhere you
want to go in Alaska. Let an experienced
driver-guide deal with the long distances,
while you relax in a comfortable,
modern coach or van with big picture
windows, enjoying plenty of rest
stops and photo opportunities.
There are two daily departures to
Denali National Park from Anchorage
and one from Fairbanks. Alaska Trails
is the only shuttle service that
offers same-day connections between
Anchorage or Fairbanks and the Denali
backcountry lodge buses. For points
along the way between Fairbanks and
Valdez take the Richardson Hwy
Route. Or you can take the Top
of the World Route from Fairbanks
to Dawson City, Yukon, including
Delta Junction, Tok, and Chicken.
Get on and off the shuttle at any
point on any route and continue your
journey on any other day of service.
All tickets are valid the entire
season. You’ll find plenty
of room for extra gear, baggage,
and backpacks. Even kayaks are generally
not a problem, with advance notice.
Add $10 per ticket to stow a bicycle.
Pros: Charters
are available to and from many places
where specific routes are not scheduled.
Another option is getting close to
your destination and simply taking
another shuttle the rest of the way.
Flag-stop service on all routes,
with tickets valid the entire season.
Extra room for gear and luggage.
Same-day connection between Anchorage
and Fairbanks and Denali backcountry
lodge buses.
Cons: Richardson
Highway Route requires that
a minimum of 4 seats be reserved
one-way before confirmation and
NO cancellations.
