Rust's Flying Service Image

Get whisked off to the Alaskan wilderness for a day of world-class fishing in some of Alaska's most beautiful and remote country. We love Rust's Flying Service—Alaska's oldest and most experienced seaplane operator—which has been safely carrying anglers far away from the crowds since 1963.

For both advanced or beginning anglers, Rust's offers easy access to some of the best fishing in Alaska: remote lakes or streams, off the road system, where you can fish for king and silver salmon, grayling, or trout. Rust's will lead you to the current hot spots, outfit you with gear if you need it, and offer expert advice on equipment and technique. When you’re done, you can hop on the plane and take your catch—cleaned and packaged for you—back to Anchorage.

And if you don't fish? This still makes a great, relaxing day trip—particularly for couples, if one person loves casting a line and the other would rather enjoy the fresh air, untouched scenery and a good book.

You don't have to stay for just a day, either. Rust's can hook you up with overnight at a remote fishing lodge (or even stays of up to a week), where you can fish and explore, but also have all your meals and creature comforts taken care of at day’s end. If you're a veteran angler—and don’t mind really roughing it—you can also book unguided trips, where you can camp for the night in a super-basic wilderness cabin you bring in all of your own gear, food and water.

No matter whether you want to fish for the day or a week, the flying portion of your trip has the same level of high service. Rust's has an experienced crew of Alaska bush pilots who operate a reliable fleet of Cessna, deHavilland Beaver and Turbine Otter seaplanes. Your outgoing flight begins at Anchorage’s Lake Hood, the world's busiest seaplane airport. When you take your window seat inside your seaplane, you'll have a headset and two-way intercom, so that your pilot can narrate the great sights below.

Indeed, you might want to take another trip with Rust's and leave your fishing gear behind: Rust's also offers great flightseeing tours and bear viewing tours throughout Alaska.
