Minutes away from Denali, yet far enough from any crowds that you can focus on the quiet sounds of nature—like the river rushing by.
The 150-room McKinley Village Lodge, located seven miles from the Park entrance, is set on 20 acres of a spruce forest along the Nenana River. Rooms are spread out among seven two-story buildings, one of which has an elevator. While it makes for an easy base camp for all of your Denali adventures, it’s also a great starting point for activities right outside your door: the resort has hiking and interpretive trails right on the property. The McKinley Village also acts as a starting point for a few rafting journeys.
With the recent addition of the 13,000-foot Summit Lodge building, the resort is an even better place to relax, too. You can watch the rafts go by from the outdoor seating decks and firepit, sit by the fireplace inside, peruse the gift shops, or enjoy meals at the three restaurants and lounges.
There are free shuttles to the Wilderness Access Center and Denali Visitors Center, and you have easy access to the free lectures or art shows at the nearby Denali Foundation.
