Close, but not too close: While it has great access to Denali National Park, the Denali River Cabins & Cedar Lodge attracts guests who are looking for clean, comfortable accommodations away from the crowds.
At this property owned by Doyon, a Native Alaskan company—you get a choice of two different lodging styles: either the conventional, 48-room hotel or the cluster of 52 cabins nestled along the banks of the glacial-fed Nenana River. Hotel rooms have all the familiar amenities—including two double beds—as well as close access to guest services. The cabins are fully furnished with a private bath, TV and telephone. Guests can also take advantage of the BBQs and sauna located on the three riverside decks.
The on-site Roadhouse Restaurant & Bar serves a continental breakfast from 5am - 9am, and is also open for hearty Alaskan dinners of steak, seafood, burgers and more. If you’re making an excursion into the park, or just going on an extended hike, you can pre-order boxed lunches to go.
While it’s just six miles from the park entrance, you don’t have to go very far to experience the Alaskan wilderness. From either the hotel or cabins, you’re just steps away from walking trails, so you can stroll along the river or go for a more adventurous hike to Triple Lakes. You can also arrange a rafting trip that launches from the river, right in front of the property.
