Take control of your own ATV with Denali ATV Adventures, and head deep into the Alaskan bush! It’s hard to beat the thrill of splashing through rivers, driving over tree root-rutted trails, and four-wheeling up to some of the area’s most spectacular vistas. With regular, one-person ATVs, as well as 2-person, side-by-side ATVs, anyone can experience this tour (though you have to be 16 with a valid driver’s license to drive).
You’ll be outfitted with a helmet, gloves, and goggles, have a short instructional session, then set off. Your helmet is equipped with a wireless headset, so your guide will be able to fill you in on all area’s history, flora, and fauna as you drive. Keep an eye out for moose, arctic fox, porcupine, and Dall sheep.
You have the option of a couple different tours: a 2 1/2-hour tour (pick to drop off) through the Otto Lake area, where you’ll come upon several gorgeous overlooks and drive through wooded trails as well as a dry creek bed. More adventuresome types can take on the longer, 4-hour Extended Otto Lake Tour, where you’ll follow a creek bed deep into the wilderness and right up to the boundary of Denali National Park. Or choose the 4-hour tour along Stampede Trail, made famous by the movie Into the Wild, where you’ll have several opportunities to view Mt. McKinley in the distance. You’ll even stop for a fun campfire meal!
