| Why did you come to Alaska? |
| I came here for a camping trip, fell in love, and decided to stay. |
| What's your favorite thing about living in Anchorage? |
| It's great that we can have the feel of a city yet travel 15 minutes out to the wilderness. |
| What is there about living in Anchorage that's unlike any other place in Alaska? |
| Because of the oil industry and tourism we are able to experience many cultures, which doesn't really exist in other places in Alaska. |
| What's your favorite book on Alaska? |
| Coming Into the Country by John McFee. |
| What's your favorite season and what do you like to do? |
| Spring...no, May—we don't have spring. I love to work outside in my garden or go down to Homer and boat over to my cabin. For winter, going to the Bears Tooth Theatre and Pub would have to be one of the best things to do. Oh and cross—country ski trails. |
| How would you spend your perfect weekend in Anchorage? |
| I would get up and take my dogs on a walk along the Coastal Trail. Stop at the city market and have a cappuccino. I might go to the downtown market and by some fresh produce. Then have lunch and a long bike ride with my husband—maybe out to the highway towards Girdwood or Eagle River. Come home and grill some fish outside on the deck. |
| What's one experience or attraction you think visitors should not miss in Anchorage? |
| Probably the Anchorage Museum of Art and History. The historical exhibits and current exhibits aren't ones to be missed. |
| What are top myths that tourists/outsiders have about Alaska? |
| It's not really that cold; our winters are kind of like Chicago's. People really do think we live in igloos. I think people are surprised that we can be savvy, forward thinking, and sophisticated. |
| What's one thing about Alaska you think visitors may not know that you would like to share with them? |
| The vast size and how it compares to the continental U.S. Also, how so many of our towns in the Bush are only accessible by air. |

"Don't miss a cruise into
Prince William Sound. People are out there with their mouths
open. They've never seen anything like it-I don't care where
they've gone." |
