Serving Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage hotels run the gamut from Anchorage luxury hotels to Anchorage cheap hotels to anything in between. You can opt for 4-star classics, mid-priced chains, small boutique gems, or homey B&Bs. In summer, competition for a hotel in Anchorage Alaska can be tight, so reserve in advance. In winter, there’s no problem getting a hotel room—and a good rate.
Our hotels cluster into three parts of town, and we recommend a few of the best in each: 1) Near the airport, 2) Downtown Anchorage, and 3) Midtown Anchorage.
Anchorage Airport Hotels lie in an area known as Spenard, just 3-4 minutes from the terminal. A good choice for your first or last night in Alaska, Anchorage airport hotels are also near Lake Hood floatplane base, convenient if you’re coming or going by air taxi.

In reality, proximity to the airport doesn’t matter much, because it’s only 10-15 minutes (5.5 miles) from the airport to Downtown Anchorage Alaska Hotels. Here, you’re near downtown Anchorage attractions, the best shopping in Alaska, and only about two minutes from the Alaska Railroad train depot.

Midtown Anchorage Hotels are convenient to the airport (10-15 minutes), near major shopping malls and sporting goods stores where you can pick up gear and clothing for Alaska’s outdoors, and a quick shot from the Seward Highway which leads south to Seward or north to the Parks Highway and Denali.
